Executive Leadership Team
Ken Brown, Chief Executive Officer
Modern Companies, Inc.
Ken is a second-generation owner and oversees all operations of Modern Companies, Inc., which provides Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, and Business Development support to all affiliated Modern companies. He first joined Modern Piping Inc. in 1999 after working for another large mechanical contractor in the Minneapolis area and has performed a variety of duties, from Estimator to Project Manager to CEO.
Ken is responsible for much of the growth of Modern Companies, Inc. and all affiliated companies. Through his leadership and vision, Modern Piping Inc. is a leader in High Purity Piping, CAD/BIM, and Fabrication.
Ken earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska. He is active in both business and community organizations through his participation and support of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Iowa, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Junior Achievement.
Dave Brown, Chief Executive Officer / President
Modern Piping, Inc.
Dave Brown is a second-generation owner of Modern Piping Inc. Throughout his career, he has experienced all facets of the mechanical contracting business from being a field apprentice to CEO. His time in the field was invaluable in shaping the philosophy of the company, which is to put people and safety first. As Modern Piping Inc. continues to grow, Dave insists on keeping the family feel and maintaining an open-door policy.
His success in growing Modern Piping Inc. is founded on education and experience. He completed several courses of study in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa, as well as the 5-year Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125 Apprentice Training Program. Dave holds four Iowa Masters Licenses in Plumbing, Hydronics, Refrigeration, and HVAC. He has completed numerous professional development courses, including the Mechanical Contractors Association of America Institute for Project Management.
Dave also supports the industry and community through participation in many organizations like the Mechanical Contractors Association of Iowa, Young Presidents Organization, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
