OBJECTIVE:

The VDC Content Manager is responsible for the development, management, and standardization of all Revit content, templates, and project setup workflows used by the VDC team. This role serves as the primary resource for Revit family creation, template management, and ensuring consistency and quality across all VDC project deliverables.


The VDC Content Manager collaborates closely with design personnel across piping and sheet metal disciplines and supports continuous improvement of modeling standards and workflows. This role upholds the company’s core

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Revit Content Development & Management

• Create, modify, and maintain custom Revit families (.RFA) for mechanical piping, plumbing, and sheet metal ductwork components

• Develop and enforce Revit content standards, naming conventions, and library organization

• Ensure all families are accurate, parametric, and production-ready

• Manage and maintain a centralized Revit family library with proper version control and accessibility

• Continuously improve content based on feedback from detailers, coordinators, and field personnel

• Develop, maintain, and quality-control Autodesk Fabrication parts (ITMs) used within Revit, ensuring accurate configuration, proper connector behavior, and alignment with shop fabrication standards

• Own and administer the Autodesk Fabrication database (CADmep / ESTmep / CAMduct), including services, specifications, materials, and connectors, recognizing its impact on Revit, Stratus, and broader fabrication

Project Setup & Template Management

• Lead setup and configuration of new Revit project files, including:

• Key plans and view templates

• Scope boxes for drawing organization and sheet management

• Shared parameters, project parameters, and system classifications

• Workset structure

• Develop and maintain standardized Revit project templates aligned with company workflow

• Establish and document best practices for project startup and model consistency


Standards & Quality Control

• Perform audits of project models to ensure compliance with company standards

• Identify and resolve model performance issues, including file size optimization and cleanup

• Create and maintain documentation, style guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Support ongoing standardization and quality improvement initiatives across all VDC deliverables


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Strong proficiency in Revit family creation, including parametric and nested families

• Experience with shared parameters and content standardization

• In-depth understanding of Revit project setup and template development

• Knowledge of BIM standards and content management best practices

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage large content libraries

• High attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across office and field teams

• Problem-solving skills related to model performance and content optimization

• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Fabrication (CADmep / ESTmep / CAMduct) and how fabrication parts (ITMs) function within Revit, including services, specifications, connectors, and materials

• Experience administering or maintaining a Fabrication database and an understanding of how changes to that database ripple through Revit, Stratus, and downstream fabrication workflows

• Familiarity with the Revit API and Fabrication API is a plus — coding is not required, but the ability to collaborate effectively with developers, define clear acceptance criteria, and scope automation or tooling work is highly valued

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities

• Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet project deadlines

• Attention to detail and accuracy


WORK ENVIRONMENT CONSIDERATIONS:

• Primarily office-based role

• Frequent collaboration with design teams and occasional interaction with field personnel

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods

• Must be able to work in high pressure situations facing strict deadlines

• Most time will be in the office, but some trips to job sites and customer locations are required

• Must be familiar with job site safety requirements and be prepared to wear a hard hat, work boots and safety glasses at potentially dangerous job sites


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• 3–5 years of experience using Autodesk Revit in an MEP or mechanical contracting environment

• Demonstrated experience in Revit family creation and content management

• Experience with project setup including templates, worksets, and view organization

• Understanding of mechanical systems (piping and sheet metal preferred)

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
