BIM Coordinator

Job Type:  Full Time

 

Role and Responsibilities
BIM Coordinators use hardware and software technology to provide support from preconstruction to final completion of a project. This group maintains all documents to ensure that the project is completed effectively within cost, schedule, and quality parameters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to take a project from start to finish

  • Design mechanical systems

  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications

  • Oversee and prepare all coordination and fabrication drawings for a project

  • Communicate and interface with people throughout the company internally and externally (architect, engineers, general contractor, trade subcontractors, etc.) in an effective and professional manner to coordinate project deliverables

  • Coordinated Installation Drawings

  • Spool & Fabrication Drawings

  • Total Station Point Exports

  • Hanger Drawings

  • Wall & Sleeve Penetration Drawings

  • Bill of Materials

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Basic AutoCAD

  • Autodesk Fabrication CADMep, Naviswoks Manage, and Revit are a plus

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet project deadlines

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

 

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in high-pressure situations facing strict deadlines

  • Most time will be in the office, but some trips to job sites and customer locations are required

  • Must be familiar with job site safety requirements and be prepared to wear a hard hat, work boots and safety glasses at potentially dangerous job sites

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent preferred

  • Piping and Plumbing trade experience is a plus

BIM Technician

Job Type:  Full Time

 

Role and Responsibilities
BIM Technicians use hardware and software technology to provide support from preconstruction to final completion of a project. This group maintains all documents to ensure that the project is completed effectively within cost, schedule, and quality parameters.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, and details for plumbing/mechanical building design using BIM content standards and procedures

  • Prepare and maintain fabrication drawing packages to ensure accuracy and consistency with company standards

  • Prepare total station files to be used for field layout

  • Assist in modeling content for pre-construction

  • Assist with the job setup of a new project

  • Assist with the printing, plotting, copying, and filing of documents for record

  • Assist with a wide range of other detailing tasks

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Senior Estimator

Job Type:  Full Time

 

Role and Responsibilities
A construction estimator uses expertise learned from working in the industry, along with construction plans, to estimate necessary expenditures and devise a budget for a variety of different construction projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares bids and cost estimates that address every part of a mechanical project.

  • Help keep mechanical projects within the client’s budget limitations. (Value Engineering)

  • Confirm all cost estimates submitted by our company are accurate.

  • Examines mechanical systems that are in poor condition to determine the costs of repairs.

  • Works with others to estimate the types and amounts of materials needed to complete the construction job.

  • Organize, compile and compare equipment quotes for estimates.

  • Organize, compile and compare subcontractor quotes for estimates.

  • Maintains constant contact with project managers to estimate the duration of a project.

  • Estimates costs of inclement weather and unforeseen events.

  • Consults with experts to get advice on difficult cost estimations.

  • Estimate labor costs for a project, including travel and subsistence pay, if applicable.

  • Evaluates the cost effectiveness of a product’s use and makes changes where necessary to improve overall cost effectiveness. (Value Engineering)

  • Develops complete budgets and plans for projects.

  • Re-figures cost estimates when necessary.

  • Submits customized reports to clients.

  • Offers advice to others as to whether or not it’s cost effective to try different materials or products.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have strong math and science skills.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Knowledge of how to read and comprehend blueprints.

  • Knowledge of the complex workings of plumbing, piping, ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems.

  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team.

  • Must have strong computer skills, especially knowledge of spread sheets.

  • Knowledge of how to use file transfer programs to send large drawing files to others.

  • Knowledge of how to use complex estimating, project management and construction scheduling software.

  • Must have basic drafting skills.

 

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in high-pressure situations facing strict deadlines. This is not an 8-5 job, as long hours are sometimes a requirement to meet deadlines.

  • Most time will be in the office, but some trips to job sites and customer locations are required.

  • Must be familiar with job site safety requirements and be prepared to wear a hard hat, work boots and goggles at potentially dangerous job sites.
     

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or experience working in the plumbing and pipe fitting industry.

  • Knowledge of construction processes, and mechanical and plumbing systems.

  • Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators or ASPE preferred.
