The old historic Hancher Auditorium was devastated by historic flooding in 2008 and a new facility was needed.  Through the use of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds, a completely new Hancher Auditorium is being constructed….2 feet above the 500-year flood plain.  This new space-age-looking facility consists of an 1,800-seat proscenium theater, a 4,000 sq/ft flexible performance area and rehearsal space. The unique design provides an optimal visual and acoustical experience for each person in the audience  The large theatre is designed for commercial productions and equipped to accommodate music, dance, opera and theatrical productions. LEED Gold certification will also be pursued for this project.
